  • Back Better safe than sorry: Fire safety tips
Introduction

Fire safety is very important and is everyone’s responsibility.

To make sure your home is free of fire risks, here are some tips to stay fire safe:

  • Keep corridors free of flammable items.
  • Report any repairs to fire equipment (doors and fire alarms) promptly through the customer service centre.
  • Ask your local fire authority to do a free home fire safety visit. You can do this by visiting www.fireservice.co.uk.
  • Reduce false alarms at schemes that have communal fire alarms. For example, if you have burnt your food, open the kitchen or lounge windows, not the front door, so that the main fire panel won’t be set off.

For more information about fire safety and what should and shouldn’t be in communal areas, read our guidance information.
